Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Dick Sharon of Sequoia High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 22, 2004. Plaque includes image of Sharon and a brief biography: "One of the finest all-around athletes in the long and storied history of Sequoia High School, Dick Sharon was a baseball star from the first moment he stepped onto the Redwood City campus in the mid-1960s. A four-year varsity performer on the diamond, he became the first Cherokee freshman to win a varsity baseball batting crown. He was a first-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1968. He had a three-season major league career, playing for Detroit and San Diego from 1973 to 1975." |
