Description |
Ohlone Hopper Basket, 2019. Hopper basket made by Ohlone Indian Linda Yamane using traditional Ohlone basket weaving techniques. This is a traditional bottomless utilitarian basket that sits on top of a shallow stone mortar, creating a deep bowl for pounding acorns into meal. Basket is made with willow foundation rods, sedge rhizome, bracken fern rhizomes (black pattern) and a creekside dogwood rim stick. Basket is woven of a sedge ground with a .75" stripe of sideways "V" pattern 1.5" from top of rim and a second .25" stripe of offset "=" signs 2" above bottom. |
