Plaque commemorating Dean Prince of South San Francisco High School being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 18, 1993. Plaque includes image of Prince and a brief biography: "Dean Prince was a city kid who made a big splash in the suburbs in the early 1950's. Prince, a native San Franciscan, moved to South San Francisco. Reared by his mother, he entered South San Francisco High as a freshman and had an immediate impact on the school's athletic program. / Prince, a multi-sport star, excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He participated in Bay Area all-star games in both football and baseball in his senior year at South San Francisco. / He got serious about golf years later. In 1978, he won the USGA National Public Links tourney in Maine. In recent years, he has been seeking a regular spot on the Senior PGA Tour from his home in Hawaii." |
