Plaque commemorating Bill Neukom of San Mateo High School being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 14, 2011. Plaque includes image of Neukom and a brief biography: "For Bill Neukom, the 2010 Major League Baseball season was a wild and gratifying ride indeed. In just his second year as the Managing General Partner and Chief Executive Officer of the San Francisco Giants, he watched the ballclub get into the National League playoffs on the last day of the regular season. Then the Giants roared through the post-season, capturing their first World Series championship since the team moved to San Francisco in 1958. Neukom, an attorney whose tremendous management/business skills were put to use in revitalizing the Bay Area franchise, is a former basketball player and long-distance runner." |
