The Cult of the Holy Spirit, a Catholic sect, originated in the Portuguese Azores and continues throughout the Portuguese Diaspora. The Festival of the Holy Ghost, held on or around Pentecost Sunday, celebrates various historical and religious figures and culminates in a procession and "coronation" of a woman representing Queen Isabel.
