Description |
Hand Towel, c. 1920. Rectangular white colored hand towel. The long sides (height wise) are selvage edges and the shorter side (width wise) are scalloped embroidery. The pattern consists of small subtle 1in. x 1in. roses. Going vertically along the height there are 7 columns of roses every other row is staggered so the roses don't line up to form rows. Embroidered 2in x 1.5in "S" in bottom center. |

Brought from New York State about 1930s by donor's friend, a lady in her 90s. All items in this donation were over 100 years old when donated (1973) with the exception of the finger towels which were about 50 years old. |
