Description |
Wedding Dress Bodice of Anna Mary Lewis, 1916. Ecru-colored silk(?) outer shell is overlain with ecru-colored lace at sleeves, chest and upper back. Lace has a floral/vine motif with horizontal scalloped edging at neck, front and back, and vertical scalloped edging on sleeves and section of sleeve that overlaps chest. Ecru-colored sequin ribbon forms the lower section of a square on both front and back, covering stitching where lace is attached. Lace portion of sleeves are split between the elbow and underarm. Inside, beneath chest, silk is lined with white muslin. While it is possible that the silk bodice was machine-sewn, the lace and muslin appear to have been added on by hand. |
