Plaque commemorating Bill & Bucky Kahler being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 28, 1991. Plaque includes image of the Kahlers and a brief biography: "Bill and Bucky Kahler were lengendary all-around athletes at San Mateo High School in the late '40s and early '50s, earning All -Conference honors in baseball, football and basketball. / Remarkably, both brothers would later achieve fame in professional baseball, reaching the AAA level at Lousiville, Ky., and Sacramento. / Bill Kahler's true love was officiating high school, junior college and university-level sports. Over a 40-year span, he would work more than 8,500 games. / Bucky Kahler was a brilliant quarterback. He led San Mateo to the 1954 Peninsula Ahtletic League title and earned himself a grid scholarship to the University of Minnesota. / He was voted the freshman Most Valuable Player at Minnesota before and injury cut short his collegiate career." |
