Description |
Japanese Vegetable Cutter, c. 1930-1970. Wooden box frame (A) is comprised of four pieces with the back one longer than the rest and is secured with brass bands (3) and brads. The frame is attached to a rectangular base by blue-colored steel hinges. Base has a rectangular opening in the center in which is inserted a brass grid system of 13 x 6 approximate 1/4" squares. A long rectangular piece of wood (B) inserts into the box opening and has a wooden rectangular piece mounted to the top to prevent it from going all the way through. This piece is used to push vegetables through the brass grid in the base to cut the vegetables into 1/4" strips. |
