Plaque commemorating Bob Wendell of Menlo-Atherton High School being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 31, 1994. Plaque includes image of Wendell and a brief biography: "Bob Wendell, a basketball/baseball player at Menlo-Atherton High School in the mid-1950s, became one of the most successful cagers ever to play for a San Mateo County school. / In 1959 and 1960, Wendell, who also attended Menlo College, was a guard on Cal basketball teams that went tot eh NCAA Final Four. Cal won the 1959 NCAA championship and finished second in 1960. While at Berkeley, Wendell played for the legendary Pete Newell." |
