    Bullet Mold, c. 1847Bullet mold carried overland from Tennessee to California by Alexander Moore in 1847. Bullet is pressed into mold. Shaped like tongs with a hinge toward small bowl-shaped ends. Solid metal with tapered handles.

  2. Bullet Pouch, 1847 - Pouch, Arms

    Bullet pouch, 1847. Brown leather ammunition bag. Bag has a canvas strap for hanging over shoulder. Front flap tapers into a vertical piece with a pointed end. Canvas strap has four small, linen squares attached. Canvas strap has one small, leather circle with squared edges attached. Canvas strap is attached to ammunition pouch by leather string.

    Bullets, c. 1847. Set of four hand-molded, metal bullets. The bullets are circular in shape and silver in color. They are each approximately 0.5" in size.

  4. Cadet Sword, pre-1847 - Sword

    Cadet Sword, pre-1847. Broken sword found in Utah by the Moore family in 1847. Small cadet-type sword, European style with an extra small grip. Crossguard (3.5") has two circular designs on either end. Grip consists of circular designs around entirety of grip (3.5"). Broken blade of sword is approximately 8.250" in length. Blade of sword has two indents which run the length of the blade on either side.

  5. Double-barrel Dueling Pistol, c. 1850 - Pistol, Dueling

    Double-barrel Dueling Pistol, c. 1850. Silver-plated double-barrel pistol has an iron trigger and double-locking mechanism. Etched scrollwork along sides, top center and back piece that affixes to the handle. Handle is missing. Metal loops beneath center part that connects both barrels, indicating that bottom of both barrels were once affixed to a base. Barrels are 4.5" in length.

    Muzzle Loading Kentucky Rifle, c. 1847. Muzzle loading Kentucky rifle, cap and ball. Stock damaged, parts missing or corroded. Lock and ramrod missing. Heavy octagonal barrel, about 45 caliber; brought to California in 1847 by T.W. Moore.

    Rice Duncan Muzzle Loading Kentucky Rifle, 1847. Muzzle loading Kentucky rifle, cap and ball. Heavy octagonal barrel with wooden ramrod. Name "RICE DUNCAN" stamped on barrel. The rifle uses a .56 caliber percussinon lock mechanism. There is an inscribed/stamped image of a bird near a pond setting on the right side near where the hammer should be located.
