"JACK DANIELS / SEQUOIA HIGH SCHOOL / INDUCTED MARCH 29, 2018 / Jack Daniels, a professor of Exercise Physiology and Physical Education, is a distance running/fitness guru of long-standing. His scientific methods and extensive, ground-breaking research involving human endurance and performance are regarded as being among the most learned and practical in that specialized field. As a former Olympic athlete, he was a member of U.S. modern pentathlon teams that took silver and bronze medals in the 1956 and 1960 Summer Games, respectively. Over the course of his career, Daniels has coached four Olympic runners. As a running coach at SUNY Cortland, his teams won eight NCAA Division III national titles, 31 individual crowns and more than 130 All-American awards." (from Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame award) |
