Jack Daniels Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame Plaque, 2018. Plaque is made of wood composite with a natural-looking brown wood finish. On the front is a silver metal plaque with a Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame trophy logo in the top left and black-and-white photo in the top right. Metal is protected by a layer of clear acrylic, and both layers are attached to the wood by four decorative golden metal screws, one in each corner. The back has indentations along the top and left sides to attach hanging or standing apparatus, and there is a silver maker's sticker near the top. Photo is a head and shoulders portrait of an older Jack Daniels. He smiles and wears a cowboy hat, collared jacket, and Olympic medal. Behind him are trees. Text under logo and photo reads, "JACK DANIELS / SEQUOIA HIGH SCHOOL / INDUCTED MARCH 29, 2018 / Jack Daniels, a professor of Exercise Physiology and Physical Education, is a distance running/fitness guru of long-standing. His scientific methods and extensive, ground-breaking research involving human endurance and performance are regarded as being among the most learned and practical in that specialized field. As a former Olympic athlete, he was a member of U.S. modern pentathlon teams that took silver and bronze medals in the 1956 and 1960 Summer Games, respectively. Over the course of his career, Daniels has coached four Olympic runners. As a running coach at SUNY Cortland, his teams won eight NCAA Division III national titles, 31 individual crowns and more than 130 All-American awards." |

"Jack Tupper Daniels (born April 26, 1933) is a professor of physical education at A.T. Still University and a coach of Olympic athletes. On March 21, 2013, he was named the head coach of the Wells College men's and women's cross country programs. He received his doctoral degree in exercise physiology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Named "The World's Best Coach" by Runner's World magazine, he led SUNY Cortland runners to eight NCAA Division III National Championships, 31 individual national titles, and more than 130 All-America awards. Daniels outlined his training philosophies in the 1998 book, Daniels' Running Formula. He mentors and coaches some of America's top distance runners in the country. Daniels won a team silver medal in the 1956 Summer Olympics and a team bronze medal in the 1960 Summer Olympics for his participation in the modern pentathlon."
