Description |
Isaac Carson Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame Plaque, 2018. Plaque is made of wood composite with a natural-looking brown wood finish. On the front is a silver metal plaque with a Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame trophy logo in the top left and black-and-white photo in the top right. Metal is protected by a layer of clear acrylic, and both layers are attached to the wood by four decorative golden metal screws, one in each corner. The back has indentations along the top and left sides to attach hanging or standing apparatus, and there is a silver maker's sticker near the top. Photo is of two men; the one on the left is tall, black, and bald, and wears a vest and checked tie. The one on the right is shorter, older, and white, and wears glasses and a black tie. They both smile. Text under logo and photo reads "ISAAC CARSON / JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL / INDUCTED MARCH 29, 2018 / For his opponents on the track in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Isaac Carson was a blur, a gifted will-of-the-wisp in running shoes. Now you see him, now you don't. He was a state-level star; his specialty was the hurdles. At Jefferson High, he won eight individual North Peninsula League track titles. A Central Coast Section hurdles champion and an All-American, he sped to a California state championship in the 110 high hurdles in 1991 after finishing second the year before. At the University of Nebraska, he continued his standout performances, earning himself a spot in the school's top 10 in the 200, the hurdles, and the 4-by-100 relay and a Big Eight Conference title, also in the hurdles. He was an essential part of his school's team, crowned champions of the 1994 and 1995 Big Eight conferences." |
