Provenance |
The Panofsky Auditorium at SLAC National Linear Accelerator Laboratory was built in Menlo Park, CA in 1964. Among other uses, the Homebrewers Computer Club, of which Steve Jobs and other local computer people were members, held their regular meetings here. In 2013, SLAC closed this auditorium in order to create a new one. At that time, a section of a table and five of the chairs were donated to SMCHA for future exhibit purposes. |
Notes |
The Homebrewers Computer Club had regular meetings in the SLAC Auditorium with members who included founders of today's Silicon Valley. Attendees included Steve Jobs and Steve Wazniak who got the idea for creating the Apple 1 computer at the very first meeting (before they began meeting at SLAC) and beta tested it at subsequent meetings. |
