Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Julianne McNamara Zeile who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 22, 1997. Plaque includes image of McNamara Zeile and a brief biography: "Julianne McNamara Zeile grew up in San Mateo. As a child, it was obvious she had unusual athletic ability. She gravitated to a gymnastics program in the San Mateo Recreation Department in the mid-1970's and she took to the sport immediately. She made her first U.S. Olympic team in 1980, but those games were boycotted by America. In 1984, she finally performed for the U.S. Olympic team, winning a gold medal and two silvers. She produced five perfect scores during the Los Angeles competition." |
