Notes |
Imari ware is the term for Japanese porcelain produced in the town of Arita and exported from the port of Imari, on the southwestern island Kyushu. Exports to Europe peaked in the late 17th and 18th centuries, stopped for a time, and then restarted in the late 19th century. Imari style porcelain is characterized by detailed and vibrant nature-inspired patterns in blue, red, and gold.
