Description |
Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Clyde Devine of Burlingame High School and Sequoia High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 23, 2005. Plaque includes image of Devine and a brief biography: "There may not have been a more flamboyant San Mateo County athlete or coach than Clyde Devine. At 6-6 iin height, he was an out-sized presence on the football field and later on the sidelines. At Oregon State University, he excelled as a linemen. He continued his career as a coach at Sequoia High School. He created the Clyde Devine Swim School, which was a Peninsula fixture from 1949 to 1976. From 1963 to 1972, he was Stanford University's diving coach. He also was a referee in the American Football League." Plaque and induction was sponsored by The Times of San Mateo. |
