Notes |
Pete Uccelli was a South San Francisco native and entrepreneur. In the early 1950s, he noticed an inadequate number of berths available to accommodate steadily increasing numbers of privately owned boats. Unable to find a suitable local harbor for his own boat, he saw an opportunity to provide a needed service to the local boating community. Pete's Harbor encompassed 20 acres of land bordering Redwood Creek and Smith Slough in Redwood City. At its peak, it would be home to more than 250 boats, a restaurant and even a boat construction and repair yard. Pete's Harbor, as we remember it, closed in 2013. |
