Rail Fence Baby Quilt, 1935. 100% cotton 1930s fabric quilt is hand-pieced and hand-quilted. It is comprised of 224 3 1/2" to 4" blocks consisting of 4 strips of various patterns of fabric. Each block is alternated into vertical and horizontal stripes. Colors are pastels of blue, peach, green, yellows and reds. Patterns include various small prints of ticking, flowers, checks and dots, as well as solids. Pink binding is machine-applied to front with hand-stitched closure to back. Cotton backing is white in color. Center of quilt is comprised of white cotton batting. |
