Plaque commemorating Doc Scheppler of Burlingame High School and Pinewood School being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on July 23, 2015. The plaque is silver acrylic mounted with golden screws onto a dark wooden base. Plaque includes image of Scheppler celebrating with a girls basketball team. He is wearing light-colored slacks and a blue sweater, the basketball players are wearing a white uniform with green numbers highlighted in yellow. They are in a basketball arena. A brief biography is also on the front, "For Doc Scheppler, basketball coaching isn't just a profession, it's a calling. It's been / that way for nearly 40 years. A standout player himself at Burlingame and Cañada / College, he pursued a coaching career beginning in the late 1970s. / He was a boys' / head coach at both Capuchino and Burlingame. He moved on to coach girls at / Pinewood School in Los Altos Hills in the mid-1990s. There, Doc has created one of the / outstanding programs in Northern California, winning six state championships, eight / NorCal titles and 13 Central Coast Section crowns. Through the 2014-15 season, his / Pinewood teams have amassed 528 victories." The front of the plaque also has the Sports Hall of Fame logo as well as sponsoring information. The back of the plaque has an oval sticker with the logo and contact information for Spotlight Impressions, the manufacturer of the plaque. |
