Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Marte Formico of City of Redwood City who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 22, 2006. Plaque includes image of Formico and a brief biography: "There may not have been a more versatile athlete ever to emerge from the Peninsula than the late Marte Formico. In the 1940's, the graduate of Mount Carmel Catholic School in Redwood City became one of Bellarmine Prep's all-time greatest all-around performers, starring in five sports. Later, at Santa Clara University, he distinguished himself by helping to lead the Bronco's storied football team to a 1950 Orange Bowl upset 21-13 victory over Kentucky and legendary Coach Bear Bryant." |
