Description |
Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Alonzo Emery of San Mateo High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 3, 1998. Plaque includes image of Emery and a brief biography: "Alonzo Emery was a brilliant football running back at San Mateo High School in the late 1960's. He led the Bearcats to Bay Area prominence. In his senior season, he was the second leading running back in Northern California, with 1,552 yards and 19 touchdowns. He was also a state-caliber track and field athlete, with a 9.7 time in the 100-yard dash. At Arizona State University, his football teams went to a bowl game every year and won each time. He later played in the World Football League." |
