Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Patty Elsener Homan of City of San Mateo who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 22, 2006. Plaque includes image of Homan and a brief biography: "Even before she could walk, Patty Elsener Homan was attracted to the water. So it's not entirely shocking that she became the greatest diver ever to emerge from San Mateo County. She developed her skills under the guidance of Clyde Devine on the Peninsula and coaches in San Francisco and wound up capturing three straight U.S. indoor springboard championships in the 1940's. She capped her stellar career by winning bronze and silver diving medals in the 1948 Olympic Games in London." |
