Description |
Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Buz Williams of San Mateo High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 3, 1998. Plaque includes image of Williams and a brief biography: "Buz Williams became synonymous with San Mateo High School football. For good reason. He started his San Mateo coaching career in 1963 and concluded it in 1996. In all, he coached at the varsity level for 28 seasons, averaging more than seven wins per year. His tenure is by far the longest football coaching stint in San Mateo's history. His teams won a total of 201 games. A Spanish teacher, he coached dominant teams in the mid-1980's which developed into defense-oriented Central Coast Section championships." |
