Description |
Japanese Tea Set, c. 1930-1970. Red and gold porcelain ceramic tea set includes a tray (A), teapot with lid (B), pitcher (C) and five cups (D-H). Tray (A) is red lacquerware, round in shape with 1.5" sides and textured pebble motif on the inside with three raised flowers. Bottom of tray is painted black with swerving serpentine textured brushstrokes. Matching ceramic ware is white on the inside, red on the outside and the red is decorated with a stylized floral motif in gold. Teapot (B) is shaped like a cup with straight angled sides and has a triangular spout and a flat lid with a flat knob handle at center, painted gold on top and a hole for releasing steam. Pitcher (C) is bowl shaped with a small ring base and a rounded rim that has been pressed inward on one side and outward on the opposite side. Cups (D-H) have a white base with a bowl that flares out slightly to form a round rim. |
