Circular brass metal disc embossed with the San Mateo County creast in the center which depicts a redwood tree in the foreground, two sailboats and a lighthouse in the water to the immediate right, and a mountainous landscape in the background. The image is encircled by a ring with text that reads, "COUNTY OF SAN MATEO / FOUNDED 1856". The text and image are in relief with a patina. The back depicts a wreath of two crossed olive branches encircling the edge, and a circular medallion relief at the top which depicts the head and shoulders of a person in a wide-brimed hat at 3/4 angle and reads, "SAN MATEO COUNTY FAIR AND FLORAL FIESTA". Below, text relief reads, "AWARDED TO" with no further text, indicating that this is an unused or unpresented award. |
