Notes |
"Softball: Carlmont’s Jim Liggett gets 1,000th win as Scots defeat Capuchino 3-0... After the game the team donned t-shirts commemorating the landmark win. "It feels very good, I’m proud of the accomplishment," shortstop Kelsey Ching said. "I’m glad I could take part in it. He’s very supportive. He cares about us on and off the field." Liggett was asked how winning No. 1,000 made him feel. "The girls were feeling a lot of pressure," he said. "They knew it was coming. They probably cared about it more than I did." The 75-year-old Liggett, who is retiring after this season, was asked how he would celebrate. "Go home, sit in my La-Z-Boy chair and watch some TV," he said." His daughter, Susan, announced his passing on Facebook. "I’m very sad to say that my Dad passed away yesterday from ALS," Susan wrote Monday night. "I will post information on a service as soon as we have it. Thank you to all of you that kept him in your thoughts and prayers. I know he appreciated that." Liggett, who turned 76 in April, took over the Carlmont program at a time when the softball team shared uniforms with the school’s basketball and volleyball programs. The former minor league baseball player led his team to unprecedented heights, winning his 1,000th game in April 2016. ..."
