Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Jan Henne of Menlo-Atherton High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 5, 2001. Plaque includes image of Henne and a brief biography: "Jan Henne, a graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School, is considered to be the greatest female swimmer in San Mateo County history. Her record as a member of the U.S. Olympic team in 1968 speaks for itself: Two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. And she accomplished all of that after switching to the freestyle sprints from her specialty, the breaststroke, just three weeks before the Olympic Trials. She was named to the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1979." |
