Parade Rest, c. 1917-1918. Pencil on off-white paper sketch depicts three figures and a U.S. flag. The two men in the foreground are in the left half of the page. One is short and fat, the other is taller and slimmer. Both wear uniforms and campaign hats and stand facing forward. The third figure is a small silhouette in the background below the U.S. flag. Alvin Page Colby, a resident of Burlingame, made dozens of drawings while training at Fort Lewis in Washington and later serving in France as a cook in the 91st "Wild West" Division."
