Description |
Knapps Side-Hill Plow Patent Model, 1875. Model is made of wood and metal. Plow blade is in the shape of an arrow and is angled so it rests on one edge of the arrow point. Plow has two wooden handles, connected with a crossbar, that start wide and angle inwards to meet at the metal base. Attached to center of cross bar is a metal rod with looped handle at top. Rod is parallel to plow handles. In the center of plow handles, where they start to meet, is a wooden arm that is perpendicular to handles. The wooden arm sticks out past the plow blade, and has a metal attachment at the end with 4 holes in it, and two metal loops on top. Wooden arm is also attached to base of plow by a vertical metal leg. The metal led is slightly curved. On one side of the wooden arm (to the right if using plow), above where the metal leg connects, is a metal plaque that reads "R. I. Knapps, Pat. Sep. 1875". ORIGINAL PATENT MODEL, PAT. # 167,402 FOR KNAPP REVERSIBLE SIDEHILL PLOW INVENTED BY R.I. KNAPP OF HALF MOON BAY, BLACKSMITH AND WAGON-MAKER FROM NEW YORK. |
