Notes |
The Benjamin Franklin Hotel, named for its two founders rather than the American politician and inventor, opened in San Mateo in 1927 as an upscale country resort hotel. It changed ownership several times in the later half of the 20th century but still remained operational. In 2012, after having been closed for about a decade, it was purchased by Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper and converted into Draper University, an alternative private school.
