Description |
Howard Got Mail, c. 1917-1919. Pencil on off-white paper sketch depicts a close-up of a bald man at a desk or table, looking at an opened letter. He is hunched low over the page, possibly in interest, but more likely in pain. His hands are balled into fists on either side of his head. There is heavy shading throughout. A caption at the bottom reads "Howard got mail." |
