Description |
National Bottling Co. Beer Bottle, c. 1890s. Amber cylindrical bottle with a round base that tapers to the neck. Below the tip is a metal wire connected to a ceramic stopper at the top. The stopper is white with faded orange text that reads "NATIONAL / BOTTLING CO." In the middle of the bottle, written in a circle, is "NATIONAL BOTTLING CO / SAN FRANCISCO, CAL." In the middle of the text above, there is a trademarked insignia of an eagle. Below the text "SAN FRANCISCO, CAL", there is some more imprinted text in medium lettering and bold that reads "ADOLPH B. LANG". On the bottom surface of the bottle, imprinted in small lettering and bold, the text reads "P C C W / 4". Bottle appears to be empty except for some air bubbles in the glass. |

Part of donation that included 6 cases of beer and whiskey bottles dating from 1850 through the 1890s. These are the type of bottles that would have been present in San Mateo County during that time period. |
