Notes |
Milton Cavalli guessed that the Sparkling Water Bottle was from 1903-1920. "Formed in 1929 after Owens Glass Company merged with Illinois Glass Company, this company eventually controlled a vast share of the glass bottle manufacturing market. Their first distinctive trademark is often called the "diamond IO mark," and is essentially the combination between the Owens Glass Co. and Illinois Glass Co. trademarks: the letter 'I' within an oval, superimposed on an elongated diamond. In 1954, they changed their manufacturer's mark and eliminated the elongated diamond entirely, leaving just the oval and 'I'. "The number directly to the left of the manufacturer's mark is the plant code number. "The number directly to the right of the manufacturer's mark is the date code. A single-digit number (0-9) without a period following it indicates that the bottle was manufactured between the years 1930-1939."
