Plaque commemorating Barb Beainy being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 25, 1995. Plaque includes image of Beainy and a brief biography: "Barb Beainy, Burlingame High alum, was a role model for the Peninsula's young female basketball players in the 1980's. She led her 1988 prep team to a 36-2 record and the first California state championship ever by a San Mateo County or Central Coast Section girls' unit. An honorable mention all-American, she was the Bay Area's female basketball player of the year in 1987 and 1988. An all California performer for two years, she became Burlingame's all-time leading scorer and rebounder, for boys or girls. Later, at UC-Santa Barbara, she led that school's 1992 team to a 27-5 record and a Big West Conference title. She was the 1992 Big West player of the year and became the university's second all-time leading scorer." |
