Plaque commemorating Gary Beban being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 17, 1989. Plaque includes image of Beban and a brief biography: "Gary Beban, a graduate of Sequoia High School in Redwood City, was a quarterback who became the first San Mateo County recipient of the Heisman Trophy while at UCLA. Beban led the Bruins to a three-year record of 23-5-2. In 1966, his UCLA team upset previously unbeaten Michigan State, 14-12, in the Rose Bowl. He set 12 UCLA records and accumulated 5,358 total yards and 35 rushing touchdowns. He passed for 23 TDs as well." |
