El Cerrito by Joseph Lee, c. 1858. Residence of William Howard. Oil on canvas mounted inside a wooden frame with a dark brown or bronze colored painted and rounded inner border and gold painted inner and outer edges. Image depicts grassy fields with trees and two circular drives leading to two wooden buildings with multiple pediments with decorative edging and decorative finials at the points. Larger building on the left is two-story on the ends and single story in the center where the front door appears to be. The smaller building on the right is two-story with a weather vane mounted to the to the highest section of roof. |
