Player's Navy Cut Cigarettes "Medium" Box, c. 1941-1945. Rectangular cardboard box. The top is printed with a circular medallion with the text reading, "PLAYER'S / NAVY CUT" on a floating ring. Inside ring is a portrait bust of a bearded man wearing blue sailors gear and a hat with the word "HERO" on brim. Beneath medallion is an ocean scene with a lighthouse and a ship. Text over the ocean reads, "CIGARETTES / "MEDIUM"". The bottom has a green background and text reading, "Manufactured from / RICH.COOL / NAVY CUT TOBACCO...". Around text is a rope border and a oval shaped logo at the top. The left sides reads, "20 CIGARETTES 20" and the right side reads "JOHN PLAYER & SONS..." both on green backgrounds. The top side reads "DUTY FREE / H.M. SHIPS ONLY" in a navy font. Box is full of cigarettes. The box is wrapped in cellophane that is slightly opened at one side. |
