Description |
Spirits Alcoholmeter, c. 1920-1940s. Glass thermometer(A) has a 6.5" long .25" cylindrical section that is labeled on the inside with numbers counting by 10s 0-100 on either side of text that reads, "Richter & Tralles for Spirit.Abramson Bacon & Heunick, San Francisco." Above this is an egg-shaped bulbous section 1" in diameter and 1.5" long and an additional 1.375" cylindrical section that tapers to a .5"x.875" ball-shaped bulbous section that ends with a pointed tip. This last bulbous section is filled with dark gray mercury beads; cotton batting is stuffed at the base of the ball to keep the beads in place. Label on inside appears to be an off-white paper and has black writing. Wooden box (B) in which thermometer is housed has mitered corners, no lid and is made from an unfinished lightweight wood. |
