Description |
WWII Air Raid Warden's Box, c. 1941-1945. Used by Francis (Frank) Nelson Gill who lived in Burlingame. Rectangular wooden box is made of plywood and has a hinged lid with a brass-colored metal handle and hook-clasp on the front. Top has a red cross symbol with text that reads, "FRANK N. GILL" above and "AIR RAID WARDEN / BURLINGAME, CALIF." below. Box is painted a light yellow/cream color on the outside; interior is unfinished. Inside, the box is divided into 5 compartments which contain first aid medical supplies. |
