In the center is a relief image of the California state seal. Stamped text on raised banners above and below the seal read "GUARD / CALIFORNIA / INSTITUTION FOR WOMEN," and a small raised shield at the very bottom is stamped with a "1." Above the main shield is an eagle, wings outstretched. |
