Description |
Plaque commemorating Frank Mangiola of Skyline College and Canada College being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 14, 2011. Plaque includes image of Mangiola and a brief biography: "You could make a pretty good argument that Frank Mangiola is the embodiment of community college soccer on the Peninsula. In 35 years as a head coach, he spent 25 of them at Skyline and Canada. Combined with earlier work at Ohlone in the East Bay, he took four teams to the California community college soccer finals. At Canada, he had to re-start a program which had been terminated and brought it all the way back to prominence. As of 2011, he was still working as an assistant at Menlo College. He was an outstanding soccer player in his own right at what was then San Jose State College." |
