Description |
Gas Mask and Case, c. 1941-1945. Green cylindrical metal tube attached to brown rubber face mask (A). Bottom of metal tube has a raised lip and circular vent. Rubber gas mask attached to metal tub. Cloth rings attached face mask to metal tube. Brown rubber mask has two yellow-tinted plastic eye holes with raised metal trim around edges. A small round hole in mouth area. Text embossed on metal canister below face mask. Tan elastic straps for head attach to sides of plastic mask through slits in sides of plastic mask and riveted to plastic. Straps attached in six places; two on either side and one at the top of the forehead area. Gas Mask placed in olive green canvas cylindrical bag (B) narrows to finished hole. cream colored stitching seams extend length of bag. Cream colored canvas straps run parallel around bag. Two cream colored bands run perpendicularly from bottom strap. A cream colored canvas strap for carrying attaches to the two parallel straps running around the bag. A cream colored drawstring with metal rings at the opening adjust the opening of the bag. |
