Coming Home from Town, c. 1917-1919. Pen on lined off-white paper sketch depicts two men in a horse-drawn car. The horse, in the foreground, wears blinders and droops tiredly. Both men in the car are in uniform; the driver on the right has his nose in the air, and the man on the left wears a cap and smokes a cigarette. In the distance behind them are a few houses and a church with a spire. The caption at the bottom reads "Coming home from Town---". |
