Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Don Harper of Sequoia High School and College of San Mateo who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 19, 2008. Plaque includes image of Harper and a brief biography: "Small in stature but gifted with stunning balance, power and agility, Don Harper is arguably the finest diver ever produced in San Mateo County. His exploits took him from Sequoia's Redwood City campus and CSM to Ohio State University and beyond. In 1956, he captured a silver medal for the U.S. in the 3-meter springboard event at the Olympic Games in Melbourne. At OSU, he won five Big Ten titles in diving and trampoline. He was an 8-time All-American in diving and gymnastics." |
