Description |
Tini Bopper Award, 1971. Raychem Corporation employee award sculpture presented to James Jervis. Various types of Raychem crosslinked metal products are recovered onto metal rods that form a stylized stick figure with raised arms. The sculpture sits on a medium brown two-level wood base that is 2.5 x 11" x 5.25". On the front of the base, a metal plate is inscribed with the text, " 'TINI BOPPER AWARD' / PRESENTED TO / JAMES E. JERVIS / MASTER METALS MAGICIAN / SEPTEMBER 1971." A central vertical rod forms the "torso" of the figure. A 1" silver colored connector is attached at the base of the metal rod, and 18 half-inch metal connectors are strapped around that connector with a metal strip. A 3.5" grayish-bronze connector is attached 3/8" down from the top of the vertical rod. At the top of the rod is a 1.25" brass connector that supports a 1.125" x 1.125" machined part (the "chest" of the figure). The head of the figure is made with a 1.5" diameter disk that is etched with the markings "o o", "$", and "cryofit" to create a frowning face. The "arms" extend 4" out to the right and left with half-inch diameter silver colored connectors and one brass connector. The figure's left arm extends 2.875" up from the "elbow" and the right arm extends 3.25" upward. |
