Baby Bonnet, c. 1870-1920 |
Object Name |
Bonnet, Baby |
Description |
Baby Bonnet, c. 1870-1920. Bonnet made of a sheer woven ivory fabric. Cap is circular with part of the circle cut off in an almost-straight line, so it covers the top and back of the baby's head and ears but leaves the face open. Around the edge are two layers of ruffles with tiny bits of lace on them; around the sides and back of the bonnet are several layers of smaller, similar ruffles. At the "corners" near the baby's ears extend two lengths of the same sheer fabric, cut to form wide rectangular ribbons to tie under the baby's chin. |
