SF Horse Show Trophy, 1936. Trophy is a figurine of a horse mid-trot in profile over a tall base. The horse is facing to the left-hand side of the trophy when viewed from the inscription side (front). Its front right and back left legs are raised. Its body has carved details on facial features, hooves and tail. There is a visible soldering seam in its midsection. The horse is mounted on top of a rectangular platform, which is supported by a curled floral detail on top of a tiered round base. The figurine section is made of a silvery metal. The figurine is attached to a hollow plastic rectangular base with a screw on the inside. The base is painted black with a metal plaque in silvery metal with inscription on the front. The plastic base has rounded edges and fluting details on the corners. The plaque is attached to the base with two screws on the backside. Inside the base, where the figuring is attached, is a small shield token in metal with a crest of two knights jousting, the initials "IS" on the top, and a banner detail on the bottom reading "INTERNATIONAL / TROPHY / SERVICE Co". Horsewoman Lurline Roth, wife of William P. Roth, lived on the former Bourn estate known as Filoli. This was her trophy. |

Notes |
"A horse show is a judged exhibition of horses and ponies. Many different horse breeds and equestrian disciplines hold competitions worldwide, from local to the international levels. Most horse shows run from one to three days, sometimes longer for major, all-breed events or national and international championships in a given discipline or breed. Most shows consist of a series of different performances, called classes, wherein a group of horses with similar training or characteristics compete against one another for awards and, often, prize money." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_show Received July 1987 |
