Description |
Japanese Candy Dish, c. 1930-1970. Red lacquerware candy dish is acorn-shaped with a plain red bowl (A.1) that has a bulbous gold band near top of rim. Lid (A.2) is equally tall as the bowl and is also solid red but has three mother-of-pearl inlaid flowers along the side and an oval bead-style handle at top center through which a small length of brown rope is tied. Lid fits snugly onto bowl and interior of both are painted black. Used for holding Japanese candy. |
